Business Meets Design Conference: Great Success!
On September, 8 key note speakers from various professions came together at the Cube museum, Kerkrade, to discuss the past, today, and the future of of packaging and design. French design pope Gérard Caron and Jan Oldenburger, Senior Partner at Roorda, an independent Dutch advertising agency - both involved in the founding of the epda (at that time PDA) - gave their view on the development of design in the past 40 years. Today's situation was tackled by brand owners' such as Philips Lighting and Solu Machines - a Finnish start-up company, as well as by Prof. Mikko Koria from the Institute for Design Innovation, Loughborough University London. The audience took a lot of inspiration from the speech by Cate Trotter, Head of Insider Trends, who gave a scenario about where the future will lead us. And Tim Scheffer, a young Dutch designer, completed the program illustrating his most recent projects. Learn more here.

"The package design of the future is something meaningful to me. I am an optimist; I believe that society will tire of waste. Waste here meaning both ecological and cultural. More and more people are already sick of unnecessary plastic. So a pack that considers itself important to culture and the planet will be a pack of the future. At least I am looking for designs that push design forward in a positive way. If that is in aesthetics, then of course that can be of value too." epda Jury member Joshua Breidenbach, Rice Creative
